Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal uses a laser device that targets the dark hair follicle. It works best on dark, thick hair and fair skin (like that of your armpits, which rarely see the light of day). The darker the hair and the lighter the skin, the better it works.

Excess hair growth

Laser hair reduction and removal (laser depilation) is a form of hair removal that has a potential to grow hairs back even thicker. An uncommon but striking adverse effect is an increase in hair density, colour, coarseness or combination of these at treated sites. This is called Paradoxical Hypertrichosis.

When getting a laser treatment on the face or neck there is a 0.6-10% chance for this to occur.

Which treatment is best?

Laser hair removal is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved as reduction, while electrolysis safely and permanently removes hair from all skin tones.

  • Electrolysis is the only FDA approved as a permanent hair removal treatment.
  • Laser hair removal is FDA approved for hair reduction.
